Tips for opening up After Lock down
Four Benefits of Scheduling Regular Commercial Refrigeration Maintenance
Commercial refrigeration maintenance usually isn’t that the top of most restaurant managers list of things to do, but many dangers can occur without preventive maintenance of appliances. When kitchen equipment seems to be working properly, it’s understandable that you may not be thinking about unexpected breakdowns, harmful mold growth, and diminishing energy efficiency. However, even when refrigeration equipment seems to be cooling perfectly, regular preventive commercial refrigeration maintenance is key to continued success.
Learn about the benefits of getting preventive maintenance for your refrigeration equipment by contacting Ultimate Cooling Ltd.
1. Commercial Refrigeration Maintenance Saves Energy
Preventive refrigeration maintenance can find issues such as drain line clogs and the loose seals, which can compromise the efficiency of your refrigeration equipment and drive up your energy costs, before commercial refrigeration repair is needed. Also, when you regularly maintain your commercial refrigeration equipment, it will not have to work as hard to produce the amount of cooling required to keep your food at the correct temperatures.
2. Commercial Refrigeration Maintenance Extends Life of Kitchen Equipment
Refrigeration equipment is an expensive investment necessary to a well-functioning establishment, so it is evident that you want it to work as long as possible. Regular preventive refrigeration maintenance is key to ensuring that your kitchen equipment and grocery store refrigerators are always clean and reliable and you never have to worry about a breakdown ruining your business for the night, or longer!
3. Improve the Safety and Quality of Food with Refrigeration Maintenance
Restaurants, grocery stores and other food and beverage establishments should always take pride in the product they deliver to the customer. However, if you are not keeping your refrigeration equipment well maintained and properly cleaned, your customers will not be receiving top quality food and beverages. Moist conditions found in refrigeration appliances like ice machines are highly vulnerable to bacteria (Salmonella, E. coli, norovirus, and botulism) and mold growth, and must be regularly cleaned to prevent it. Ensure your refrigeration equipment is safe to use all year long with regular preventive maintenance.
4. Lower The Risk of Costly Emergency Repairs
When commercial refrigeration equipment breaks down, the cost of repair is not the only negative aspect of which you will be left. Lost product and business will also haunt your warm refrigerator. Scheduling regular preventive refrigeration maintenance can significantly reduce the risk of experiencing a costly and unexpected breakdown. When an A+ Air and Refrigeration trained and professional refrigeration technician comes to maintain the equipment, they will complete a performance check to find any minor issues and repair before they turn serious.
Air Conditioning Maintenance Tips
Winter can pose somewhat of a challenge for many air conditioning units if they’re not cared for correctly, here are a few helpful pieces of advice on how to prevent problems before they arise.
Keep Your Unit Clear From Obstructions
Whether it’s your vents inside or your condenser outside, all parts of your air conditioning unit should always be free from obstructions. A blocked vent or other pathway can result in the unit having to work a lot harder to maintain the same output, which can mean a drastically reduced efficiency. Depending on its placement, your outside condenser might face a couple of obstacles, including dried leaves and other debris, falling ice, or simply a light layer of frost coalescing on the outside of the unit. Leaves and debris can block the fan, while a buildup of frost can stop it from moving altogether.
It’s worth checking your outside unit occasionally for these issues, especially if you start feeling the effects inside. If you’re having to deal with the same problems frequently, it might be worth thinking about ways to cover your condenser unit for the winter, shielding it from physical impacts. If you are going to use a cover, make sure that it’s made of breathable material, otherwise condensation could build up and result in a thin layer of mould. To briefly reiterate, the same rules apply inside too – make sure that nothing is blocking the indoor vents. In fact, while you’re looking at the vents, it’s worth positioning the louvres (the little rows of flaps) down as vertically as possible, without actually closing them. This ensures that heat is forced down quickly into a room.
Let’s talk about setting the temperature that means don’t set your heating to maximum (say, like 30oC) in the hopes of getting the work place to heat up faster – it doesn’t quite work like that! Not only will it not heat up your work place any quicker it will put unnecessary short and long-term strain on the system. A better way to do it is only set it to as high as you need. Most work places and offices find that 23oC is perfectly comfortable, and well within the abilities of most systems.
Of course, there may sometimes be an issue that you can’t foresee – and even if you could, you might not always be able to do something about it. It just underlines the importance of proper service and maintenance, which is something we excel at here at ultimate Cooling ltd.
Our experienced engineers are experts in all matters of repairing and maintaining heating and cooling systems, and there’s no better remedy to avoiding issues than preventative maintenance, giving you peace of mind whatever your industry.
Ultimate Cooling Summer Tips 2019
Check Temperatures Frequently
Local health standards have guidelines on how often you should check the temperatures on your refrigeration equipment, but you may want to check the temperatures even more often than recommended. When you keep a careful eye on your temperature levels, you notice right away if something is wrong with your system, and in most cases, timely repairs save you money by preventing the issue from getting worse and needing a big expensive repair. Additionally, you can make sure you're not wasting money by running your system too cold.
Make Sure Seals Are Working Well
On traditional fridge doors, you need to make sure that your seals are working well. Check the seals on a regular basis, and replace them as needed. Without tight seals, cold air can seep out of your fridge, causing your motor to run harder and driving up your bills.
Replace Old Refrigeration Systems
As commercial refrigeration systems get older, they also become less efficient. Although investing in a new system can be costly it can save you money in the long run. We can advise you on the costs and can also help you decide when to make an upgrade.
Schedule Regular Refrigeration Service
Finally, remember to schedule regular service appointments for your refrigeration system. When you have one of our engineers come in on a regular basis, they can check seals, motors and other issues with your system. We can let you know when you need repairs, and we can take care of issues quickly so that the damage doesn't get out of control.
Winter Commercial Refrigeration Servicing
Why you should have your commercial refrigeration equipment serviced during Winter.
Commercial refrigeration and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) maintenance during the winter months is essential. Both should have regular checkups, particularly between November and March. While it’s easy to keep your HVAC's health at the forefront of your mind when the cold weather comes through, it’s also important to have your refrigeration equipment inspected when the seasons change.
Required Maintenance
The HVAC units and refrigeration equipment in your business should be serviced to ensure all components are clean and in working order. Cleanliness is a huge factor in prolonging the life of your commercial equipment. Parts such as the condenser coil, fan blades, motor, and doors should be well cared for.
Why Maintenance Is Important
If your business relies on refrigeration, you cannot risk losing your perishables to malfunctioning, broken, or dirty equipment. Whether you own a food store with frozen and refrigerated products or you have a restaurant, the quality of your offerings is critical to keep your business open and not make customers ill from spoiled food.
During the cold months when your HVAC is working overtime to ensure your building is warm, your refrigerator’s efficiency is necessary for keeping your utility output and costs in check. When your appliances are maintained, your energy costs lower, and you’ll need fewer big appliance repairs.
The appearance of your refrigeration equipment is also a factor. Customers don’t want to see their food stored in a dirty, broken unit. When your business is a food service, you want every part of your establishment to look sanitary, well kept, and safe for customers.

Ice Machines Require Cleaning, Often
Ice machines must routinely be emptied out and special chemicals must be used to wipe out the entire inside of the unit including hard to reach crevices. Make sure the inside is completely dry by wiping the inner walls with a clean, dry cloth. After cleaning the unit, turn it back on and the ice maker will refill on its own in a couple hours.
Your ice machine should be cleaned and sanitized at least once every six months, maybe more depending on how much it is used. If you’re unsure about proper cleaning, ask our Engineer when he’s in for the service appointment.
When is the best time to order replacement water and air filters? Read the manufacturer’s manual for replacement models and instructions for swapping the new filters for the old. These filters are critical in making sure your machine not only produces the freshest, cleanest tasting ice, but also so that it runs efficiently and doesn’t use more energy than necassary.
